Fans of LIV Golf in North America who may not be able to watch final round coverage of their upcoming tournament in Australia will be able to listen to the action thanks to a new partnership with a Canadian news talk station.
NewsTalk Sauga 960 becomes the first North American radio broadcast partner for LIV, according to a release from the Ontario-based station on Tuesday. Final round broadcasts will continue for the remainder of the 2023 LIV season and can be heard online at sauga960am.ca.
Chris McKee will be the studio host on the radio side. McKee hosts This Week in Golf, which airs on Sauga 960. The show covers LIV as well as the PGA and LPGA Tour.
Despite having news in the name, Sauga 960 is the play-by-play home for several area teams including the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.
“We continue our tradition to bringing our listeners diverse and exciting brands of local,
national, and now international, sports programming to our Sauga960AM audiences,” station general manager Praveen Amirtharaj. “We are proud to become LIV Golf’s first global radio partner to bring our audiences a dynamic new brand of professional golf.”
The broadcast will largely consist of a simulcast of the TV feed from the Grange Club in Adelaide, with McKee filling in the gaps on the radio airwaves. Arlo White handles play-by-play on TV for LIV, with David Feherty and Jerry Foltz joining him in studio. Dom Boulet, Su-Ann Heng and Troy Mullins report from the course.
While LIV Golf didn’t find a television home in the United States until this season on The CW, live second and third-round coverage of tournaments could be found in Canada on GameTV since the tour’s launch in 2022.
