ESPN Senior NFL Draft Analyst Todd McShay is approaching the finish line of draft season, and with workouts, pro days and the combine in the rearview mirror, there’s not a ton to really report on beyond speculation about who will be selected when.
McShay told Dan Patrick on Monday that trying to get verifiable information that he can report is a whole process.
“It’s tough this time of year. Obviously, I lean on my relationships,” he said. “I get information typically from other teams that have information or have friends within those others teams that there’s kind of some leaks.”
Todd added that the process also includes running things by ESPN’s NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen.
“And then I always bounce things off of Schefter and Mortensen because they’re typically hearing the same things or different things to try to balance out that information at this point,” he said. “But it’s difficult.”
Patrick originally asked who to believe when it comes to reporting on the draft this time of year. McShay said a lot of information circulating out there isn’t the truth.
“The amount of disinformation that is fed out there in the public and you see on Twitter and those sorts of things I laughed at,” he said. “Because I’d get off the phone with a general manager one day, and then a director of college scouting the next day and then I’m reading these things and it’s the exact opposite of what they’re saying.”
