The Monday Night Football broadcast booth had taken on several different combinations over the years until ESPN signed Joe Buck and Troy Aikman last year. But Seattle Sports host Mike Salk said he did miss seeing Booger McFarland on the game broadcasts.
McFarland joined Brock & Salk on Wednesday to talk about the upcoming NFL Draft, and after the interview, Salk said Booger just added something different to Monday Night broadcasts.
“I liked him when he was in the booth, and then I liked him even more when he was in the Booger-mobile,” Salk said. “Because it was sort of in the Tony Siragusa Phil Simms mold. I don’t need the color analyst to just spit stats at me.”
Salk added that Booger just made it feel like he was with you on the couch watching the game, and that’s what he expects out of the color analyst.
“I like somebody just kind of hanging out watching the game with me. I don’t need much more than that,” he said.
McFarland and broadcast partner Joe Tessitore were replaced on MNF in 2020.
