WWE CEO Nick Khan gave some insight on where media rights talks stand Wednesday at the World Congress of Sport Conference, saying that both FOX and NBCUniversal appear keen on keeping the positive momentum going.
For NBCUniversal, which airs WWE’s flagship weekly show Monday Night Raw on USA and streams its pay-per-view events exclusively on Peacock, Khan said it’s all about making sure Monday nights belong to WWE.
“It’s the highest rated show on USA, times three,” Khan said.
FOX is the home of SmackDown on Friday nights, and Khan added that the network wants to build on what they’re already doing.
“They want more live, they want more on scripted,” he said. “You saw what they did with the Big Ten. We think those are all good indicators for us.”
Khan did identify one particular area of the company that could stand to see some improvement, and that could likely happen considering WWE’s recent acquisition by UFC parent company Endeavor.
“Our sales and sponsorship numbers should be far bigger than what they are,” Khan said, noting that 40% of the WWE’s fanbase is women.
