Brady Quinn was the subject of a very public spat with ESPN analysts Ryan Clark and Robert Griffin III over comments he made about NFL Draft prospect C.J. Stroud, and the FOX Sports Radio host has defended himself against the criticism.
During Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Quinn argued — with help from co-host Jonas Knox — that critics didn’t actually listen to his statements.
“You’ve got TMZ, we’ve got Ryan Clark, we’ve got RG3, we’ve got you name it, everybody looking for content because they’ve run through every other angle on every draft prospect we’ve got,” said Jonas Knox. “You were at the center of the madness that was one of the most hilarious and dumbest situations I’ve seen. It only focused on how many people don’t listen. They actually don’t listen, they just attack and just try to figure out what happened afterwards.”
“We get into this cycle of an agent for C.J. Stroud becoming very concerned about it, David Mulugheta,” Quinn argued. “That’s why when you look at the guys who started chirping about this yesterday, Quandre Diggs? Represented by David Mulugheta. Jalen Ramsey? represented by David Mulugheta. C.J. Stroud? Represented by David Mulugheta. A guy like Ryan Clark, who’s in the industry? Very close with David Mulugheta. That’s not an opinion, that’s fact. He’s admitted as much on his podcast and all that.
“David Mulugheta was so concerned about C.J. Stroud choosing not to go to the Manning Passing Academy, that he felt the need to reach out to his clients to create some sort of Twitter attack, which, for anyone that knows me, knows that I could give two you-know-whats about Twitter or people’s opinion on Twitter.
“But all it did was highlight the fact that no one took the time to listen to the one-minute clip. Understand the context of the question was ‘Why could a player like C.J. Stroud be dropping at this point in time in the draft process?’. I’ve been there. I’ve gone through this. I spoke about some of the things I went through, and I spoke about some of the things I heard.”
Quinn then turned his attention specifically to his clash with Ryan Clark and Robert Griffin III, and said neither one of them actually knew what they were criticizing him for.
“The attacks from people like RG3 — dude, I can’t wait for your book to come out, so excited about it — and Ryan Clark, who don’t know me, don’t know anything about my integrity or anything else about what I was as a player, person, or analyst, all of a sudden are taking that as a slight to the character of C.J. Stroud. If either one of those two would have taken the time to listen to the one-minute clip, they would have literally heard me define it as potentially a smoke screen…but that’s the point. In today’s society, we have people that don’t actually care to know what the hell they’re talking about.”
