Former President Donald Trump was found liable for damages in a sexual assault and defamation case yesterday. MSNBC anchor Mehdi Hasan believes Trump should be questioned about the situation during a CNN town hall, but says the format doesn’t lend itself to hard lines of questioning.
In a series of tweets, Hasan shared his stance that CNN “has to ask Trump” about the situation.
“And not just a single, solitary question to tick a box, with no follow-up, but a sustained period of questioning — which I’m not sure the live town hall format allows for (to be honest),” Hasan wrote.
Later, he argued that Kaitlan Collins — who will moderate the New Hampshire town hall for CNN — should push Trump for more answers.
“Trump will almost certainly claim that he has no idea who E Jean Carroll is. Will CNN be ready with the pic of them together? Will CNN remind him that in his deposition he confused Carroll, who he says was not his type, with one of his ex-wives? Hope so. Let’s see,” he continued.
On his Truth Social account, Trump has already claimed he has “absolutely no idea who this woman is” while calling the verdict a “disgrace”.
CNN’s much-anticipated town hall is scheduled for this evening at 8:00 PM ET. Trump will take questions from prospective New Hampshire voters, as well as those who are undecided on who they will vote for in the 2024 Republican primary.
