Chris Cuomo is reportedly eager to prevent his ex-CNN coworker Don Lemon from joining NewsNation. According to a report from RadarOnline, Cuomo harbored resentment towards Lemon, who allegedly distanced himself from him, Cuomo, when the latter was fired from CNN last year amidst allegations of sexual misconduct.
“According to a source, ‘Chris has never forgiven Don for not having the decency to pick up the phone to see how he was after CNN fired him. He wasn’t necessarily happy when Don got the ax – but he didn’t shed any tears over it.'”
The insider said that Cuomo denied CNN’s allegations and had mentored Lemon as a co-host on CNN This Morning, and had once headlined his post-prime-time news show. However, a network insider disclosed that the two men, who were once as ‘close as brothers,’ are now ‘no longer speaking.’ Cuomo is reportedly not open to the idea of Lemon joining NewsNation.
A source said, “‘He’s not about to jeopardize his career to help somebody as untrustworthy and volatile as Don! Trouble follows Don wherever he goes, and Chris thinks he’s toxic.'”
Late last month, CNN CEO Chris Licht announced that the network had parted ways with Don Lemon, who had been with the network for 17 years. Licht expressed gratitude for Lemon’s contributions to CNN and stated that Lemon would always be a part of the CNN family.
However, Lemon expressed shock at the news and claimed that management did not inform him directly. He stated, “At no time was I ever given any indication that I would be unable to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.” Following his departure, Lemon hired a prominent lawyer to handle his exit negotiations.
