Kayleigh McEnany: I Will Not Call April Ryan A Journalist

Earlier this week, reporter April Ryan clashed with Homeland Security Director Alejandro Mayorkas over a refuted claim that Border Patrol agents had whipped Haitian immigrants. On Friday, Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany had criticism for Ryan.

Ryan — who recently signed on as an MSNBC contributor — claimed Haitian immigrants had been whipped by horse reins from Border Patrol agents, which Mayorkas quickly denied. An internal investigation found no evidence of any impropriety alleged by Ryan.

She then took to Twitter with a photo she alleged as proof of the incident.

While discussing Mayorkas Friday during Outnumbered, McEnany said “There was quite a moment in the briefing that I wanted to highlight. It is when activist April Ryan, I will not call her a journalist, I’m sorry,” before playing a clip of the interaction.

In the clip, Mayorkas refutes Ryan’s claim, before she rebuts with the horse rein fact.

“I’m going to leave you as corrected,” Mayorkas said after refuting Ryan’s allegation for the second time.

“So, the fact that it’s now been debunked, they have to own their words, and April Ryan is doubling down on the lie, the abject lie,” McEnany concluded.
