KMBZ afternoon co-host Dana Wright has revealed that a text sent to the station led to a Missouri man’s arrest.
John D. Gribble of Independence, Missouri was charged last week for a threatening text message he sent to the station earlier this year. He has subsequently been placed on house arrest and given a no-contact order with Wright, any potential witnesses, her home address, or KMBZ.
In a Facebook post, Wright shared the Gribble’s mugshot, and also a screenshot of the message he sent that led to his arrest.
“Holy f—. I’ve just heard how much a dumbf— Dana is while replaying the 3/21 show in regards to how to say Regina Saskatchewan. That stupid libtard loudmouth c— needs to be publicly killed,” Gribble wrote. “Someday I’ll find that stupid bitch and fix that problem. Scott (Parks) is the only voice of reason that show.”
“This particular threat is not the first — BY FAR — we have received, and I know that it will not be the last. I am sharing this because I am done being quiet about it,” Wright wrote.
In an interview with The Kansas City Star, Wright said the increasing violence towards media members led her to pursue charges.
“What concerns me about cases like this is the level of violence we are seeing against people in all different forms of media,” said Wright. “And a lot of those people who lash out blame their rage on things like alcohol and other problems they might be having in their lives or some warped sense that the political landscape is responsible for every problem they’ve ever had. And some of those people then go on to commit very real crimes for the first time. We just had someone fire a gun into a television station…That was a week ago.”
Dana & Parks is heard from 2:00-7:00 PM on the Audacy-owned Kansas City news/talk station. The pair have been working together since 2011.
