Jesse Watters: Pete Buttigieg Gets Favorable Coverage Because He ‘Checks Many Boxes’

During Friday’s latest episode of The Five, the panelists discussed the media’s depiction of Pete Buttigieg, the U.S. Transportation Secretary. Buttigieg, who formerly served as the mayor of South Indiana, has faced backlash for managing critical issues such as supply chain disruptions and train accidents.

“It looks like the media is praising Pete [Buttigieg] because the alternative is much worse,” said Jeanine Pirro. “The White House has been trying to elevate Kamala Harris, and we know they are trying to repair her image.”

According to Jesse Watters, the media intentionally evades challenging inquiries about Buttigieg because they anticipate his future presidential candidacy.

“Look at how many boxes this guy checks for a Democratic nominee,” said Watters. “He’s smart, a veteran, he lifts weights, he’s in a gay relationship, he plays the piano, yet he also splits wood. He loves God, but he loves Blacks, gays, women, and the poor. You can’t check this many boxes. It’s like a consultant came up with something and overdid it.”

In a recent article titled “Pete Buttigieg Loves God, Beer, and His Electric Mustang,” published in Wired, Pirro highlighted the absence of depth and objectivity in the author’s approach.

“Many the reporter himself was this enamored,” said Dana Perino. “You only agree to do a glowing profile piece if you’ve done something significant. You don’t do it on the back of East Palestine. The media keeps trying to make Pete Buttigieg a thing, and the Democrat voters themselves don’t want him as their thing. The media keep trying to shove it down their throats.”
