A newly launched political action committee is urging former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to enter the race for the 2024 Republican Presidential nomination. However, his representation has sent a strong rebuke of the PAC.
“Mr. Carlson will not run for President in 2024 under any circumstances, and therefore your misrepresentations are damaging to Mr. Carlson and defrauding his supporters,” Dhillon wrote in the letter, obtained by The Hill.
“If you do not immediately cease and desist your efforts to solicit money to ‘draft’ Mr. Carlson, we will use every legal means at our disposal to vindicate his rights and protect his supporters from these misrepresentations.”
The PAC was created to urge Carlson to seek the presidency, saying “The Republican Party needs a fresh leader, and Tucker Carlson is prepared to assume that role. Among all individuals in the country, nobody articulates their views more effectively or confronts left-leaning individuals from both major parties as skillfully as Tucker.”
The Draft Tucker PAC had created a 30-second commercial that was slated to begin a weeklong run on conservative cable outlet Newsmax.
After receiving the letter from attorneys for Carlson, the PAC has ceased all activities.
“Tucker’s attorney has contacted us to let us know that Tucker is not a candidate for president nor has any intentions of running and asked us to cease all activities on his behalf. We are going to honor that request,” Charlie Kolean, a spokesperson for the committee, said in a prepared statement.
The report from The Hill claims the PAC had only collected $212 in donations before it ceased operations.
