Late last month, 95.5 WSB announced several changes to its daily lineup, including swapping the timeslots of Mark Arum and Eric Von Haessler. Director of Branding and Programming Ken Charles says it was a strategic decision.
In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Charles said that the decision by Scott Slade to step away from the morning show precipitated more changes and an internal review of the Cox Media Group station.
“We talked about the flow of the radio station. Going from news to Mark to [Erick] Erickson to [Sean] Hannity to EVH was a more strategic flow. People know Mark. He’s been with the station for decades and also did traffic on WSB. So the morning folks know and love him. We believe his most ardent fans would make the switch with him.
“Then when you look at Eric, he has also spent many years in morning drive. That same audience is more available at 4 PM than 10 AM. We looked at consumption patterns and it became clear this flip made sense.”
Charles concluded by sharing his pride in the new lineup.
“I feel very comfortable that we’ve got the right people in the right slots,” he said. “We are set to grow our success.”
