The television ratings of both CNN and Fox News have seen large losses in recent weeks. The cause for each has been widely debated, but radio host Howie Carr believes one reason is because of the recent content choices by the channels.
During The Howie Carr Show Thursday, the Boston-based host argued that recent political conversations have turned regular cable news viewers off.
“MSNBC is holding on ok and CNN and Fox have really plummeted. Fox, it’s Tucker’s departure. CNN, it’s having Trump on the town hall. But could it possibly be related to the fact that they’re endlessly yapping about this default?” Carr questioned.
“‘Wall Street disaster looms. Chaos. Debt cliff nears.’ I mean, who’s taking this seriously? I mean, I’m not saying I’d rather watch a Red Sox game than listen to this crap, but who the hell cares? Now they’re saying Wall Street is crashing and the Dow Jones is down for the fourth straight day. Who the hell cares? ‘The Dow is down 46 points. Default nears!’ Unbelievable.”
Ratings in the 8:00 PM ET window at Fox News have reportedly dropped 51% since Tucker Carlson was unceremoniously fired late last month. CNN has been beaten in the ratings in the same timeslot by Newsmax, which has seen an increase of 128% since late April.
