Tucker Carlson continues to garner millions of views with his short-form videos on Twitter since his ouster at Fox News. Michael Berry believes technology is to thank for allowing more freedom for media personalities.
During Friday’s edition of The Michael Berry Show, the Houston radio host argued that in the past, Carlson would have been at the behest of another cable news network or radio company to be able to air his thoughts on the American political landscape continually.
However, he argued, due to the advent of social media, the low barrier of entry to podcasts, and other media developments, it is now easier than ever to succeed without working for a network or corporation.
“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thought de-platforming Tucker was a great idea. You see, you silence all voices with whom you disagree. That’s a sign of the weak-minded. And in the past, the network, just like the record label, the radio station, and it goes on and on and on, would be able to fire somebody, and then their message couldn’t get out, effectively silencing them. But we live in a brave new world. Technology has, in that sense, democratized content and content is king. People will find it.”
Berry then showcased Carlson’s latest Tucker on Twitter episode, which he called “by the best one yet”, adding that the show’s new format on Twitter is “perfectly suited to his style”.
