SiriusXM is launching a new pop-up channel for the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 exclusively to SiriusXM subscribers on channel No. 109 and on the SiriusXM app. The broadcast will include an interview with H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco where he will share information about the principality and insight into the enthralling worldwide sporting competition. The conversation will be hosted by two-time Monaco Grand Prix winner David Coulthard and former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan. Fans should expect the conversation to be an incomparable look into the personality of the Prince in addition to information about the country’s future with F1 racing.
“We are honored to have H.S.H. Prince Albert II give our listeners an unparalleled view into the fascinating and culturally rich Principality of Monaco,” Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM President and Chief Content Officer, said in a statement, “as well as his thoughts on the history and significance of the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the world’s most famous sporting events.”
The channel will also feature various replays of last month’s Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix race, which was won by Max Verstappen after rain struck the event in the middle of the race and complicated conditions. In 2002, the Monaco Grand Prix garnered 2.78 million viewers, albeit on a tape delay, making it the most-viewed race in American history. Approximately 1.79 million viewers watched the 2023 iteration of the race on The Walt Disney Company-owned ABC, making it the third-largest live audience for an F1 race in the history of the United States.
Creating the satellite broadcast channel is the latest move from media companies looking to promote the flourishing entity, which reported a steadily increasing average viewership audience of 1.21 million viewers per race. Moreover, reported revenue equated to nearly $2.6 billion concurrent with broadening consumer demographics – especially viewers between the ages of 18 and 49.
