If there is one thing wrestling fans hate, it is listening to people that think they know wrestling talk about the sport. Keith Hernandez and Gary Cohen learned that the hard way as they took all kinds of heat on social media Tuesday night.
During the 8th inning of the team’s victory 7-2 over the Milwaukee Brewers, the SNY analysts had a conversation about Ric Flair that caught the attention of plenty of wrestling fans, including Peter Rosenberg of ESPN New York.
Gary Cohen referred to Flair as “The Wonderboy” instead of “The Nature Boy.” Keith Hernandez answered by calling Flair’s finishing move “his out pitch” and then misidentified it as a “su-flex” instead of its actual name – a suplex.
“Oh my lord, this wrestling conversation from Gary and Keith is so cringe lol,” Rosenberg tweeted.
Rosenberg has serious credibility in the wrestling world. In addition to his multiple roles on New York radio, he has made multiple appearances on WWE programming, including the 2021 Royal Rumble, where he won the promotion’s 24/7 Championship.
He provided a video of the exchange as well.
As you can see, Hernandez and Cohen corrected their mistakes pretty quickly, but that did not stop social media from piling on.
