The Mighty 990 KWAM in Memphis has announced news anchor Ben Deeter has inked a long-term contract extension to remain with the Starnes Media Group station.
Deeter joined the station in 2021 and has won multiple Tennessee Association of Broadcasters Awards and also a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.
“Ben is one of the most respected journalists in Memphis because he is not afraid to ask the tough questions,” said KWAM owner Todd Starnes. “He’s one of the best young journalists in the country.”
With his contract extension, Deeter will continue to co-host Wake Up Memphis after rejoining the program in 2022. Previously he served as the show’s executive producer until he was named the station’s main anchor.
“For Ben Deeter, this is a job and passion, not a side hustle,” said SMG chief executive officer Dalton Glasscock. “Ben is the only local conservative morning show host in Memphis bringing you the news every day.”
According to the station, Deeter will play an integral part in The Mighty 990’s coverage of the 2024 Presidential Election.
