FOX Sports Radio has picked up another small market affiliate. WVAX-AM in Charlottesville, VA is dropping ESPN Radio and will rebrand as FOX Sports 102.9 and 1450 Charlottesville.
The station is part of the Saga Communications cluster, which is the flagship of the University of Virginia.
“We’re thrilled to now be offering the biggest and brightest names in sports radio to Central Virginia,” Garrett Klingel, General Manager of Charlottesville Radio Group, said in a press release. “We know how sports-crazed this market is, so they deserve the best!”
In recent weeks, FOX has picked up affiliates in Anchorage, AK; Peoria, IL; State College, PA and Augusta, GA. Like those stations, the Charlottesville station will carry the network’s entire nationally-syndicated lineup.
