It’s a good thing San Diego likes Ben & Woods. The morning show on 97.3 The Fan isn’t going anywhere. They announced Thursday morning that they have signed a contract extension with Audacy.
The duo told listeners that negotiations with the station initially hit a snag. Ben Higgins and Steve Woods wanted to make sure producer Paul Reindl was locked in as well. Woods said that the show is called Ben & Woods but could just as easily be called “Ben, Woods, and Paulie”.
Eventually, the show and the company came to terms on a new three-year deal. Woods said that while Reindl is still worth more than he is getting paid, it meant a lot to him that the company would recognize the producer’s contribution to the show’s success.
“The fact that we get to stay together, the three of us, to do our thing for you guys every single day,” Woods said fighting back tears. “I’m emotional about it because it means so much to me. It really does. I take it so to heart to be able to do this every day for you guys and with you guys. So I’m super, super, super stoked. I’m so glad you’re staying and that we’re staying and it’s amazing.”
The Fan had a stellar spring book, placing number one in the target demo for weekday prime hours. Ben & Woods ranked third in morning drive with an 8.3 share.
“The most important thing I want our audience to know is that this show is JUST getting started,” Reindl told Barrett Sports Media, “I’ve accomplished so many goals in my nearly 10 years in radio, but our show is still very much trending in an upward direction and I’m so glad to continue being on this ride.”
