KDKA afternoon news anchor Melinda Roeder has announced her departure from the Audacy-owned news/talk station.

Roeder has announced she is joining WTAJ-TV in Altoona as its new News Director.

“We are excited for Melinda and her family as they make the move to Johnstown,” Audacy Pittsburgh Vice President and Market Manager Michael Spacciapolli told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We are thankful for her contributions at KDKA and love to see her growing her career in management.”

After joining KDKA in 2016 as a freelancer, Roeder was named the station’s full-time afternoon anchor after the retirement of Rose Ryan-Douglas in 2021.

“To be there as a news anchor in the afternoon was something I will always cherish and never take for granted,” Roede told the newspaper. “Those call letters are so special. … I hope that there’s a lot of sense of Pittsburgh pride with that station, and I hope it’s around for another 100 years.”

While she will be serving as the TV station’s News Director, Roeder said she will still be available for fill-in work at the Pittsburgh news/talk outlet.
