710 WOR has named Larry Mendte as the station’s new news director and morning news anchor.
Mendte has won numerous Emmys and Edward R. Murrow Awards during his 40-year career.
He will serve as the news anchor during the station’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning, as well as The Mark Simone Show.
“WOR is iconic in radio history, and I’m honored to accept this position,” said Mendte. “Len Berman and Michael Riedel are smart, entertaining, and informative. It’s the morning show I listen to, and I’m elated to now be part of it.”
Larry Mendte joins 710 WOR after working as the news director and host for WJLP-TV, the MeTV affiliate in New Jersey. He has previously worked as the original co-host of Access Hollywood. His other television roles include working as a news anchor at CBS-3 and NBC-10 in Philadelphia, as well as a commentator at WPIX-TV in New York and an anchor at WBBM-TV in Chicago.
His previous radio stops include hosting a morning show at WWIQ-FM in Philadelphia and serving as a talk host at 77 WABC.
“I’ve been a fan of Larry’s for many years,” said 710 WOR Program Director Tom Cuddy. “So, when the opportunity popped up for him to work with Len and Michael, I was truly pumped up that we were able to bring in a talent of his caliber.”
Mendte will step into the role previously occupied by Joe Bartlett. Bartlett retired from the iHeartMedia station in May after spending 37 years with the station.
