Mike Golic has a new show coming to DraftKings Network on Samsung TV+ next week. Gojo & Golic will see the former ESPN star teamed up once again with his son, Mike Golic Jr.
On Friday’s edition of The Dan Patrick Show, the elder Golic said that it is the right time to revisit the time in his career that he thought was the most fun.
“Trey and my son – the most fun I had,” he said of his time on ESPN Radio. “I mean, my God, I get to work with my kid, you know? I mean, we’d flip on the microphone at 6 am, and there I am talking with my son. So, now we’re going to do that again for 2 hours every morning. I’m not passing that up.”
Golic started at ESPN Radio in 1998. He started in morning drive with Tony Bruno. Mike & Mike with Golic and Mike Greenberg launched in 2000 and ran until 2017 when he partnered with his son and Trey Wingo for Golic & Wingo. That show ended in 2020.
Patrick asked Golic if there was any bitterness toward ESPN left over. He acknowledged that even though, unlike Golic, he got to choose when and how to leave ESPN, he certainly felt it.
While he has mostly made peace with where he is now, Golic admitted that he still wants the network to regret letting him go.
“I didn’t want Mike and Mike to end, and then it ended, but it wasn’t my choice. I didn’t want to be done at ESPN, but again, it wasn’t my choice. So at some point, you have to realize, ‘Well, I can’t do anything about it.’ But that pride thing in that world where you say, ‘Okay, I want to show you that was a mistake.’ Whether it ends up being true or not, I have no idea.”
