Glenn Beck: Republican Senator Asked Me to Run For President

During a recent podcast episode, conservative radio host Glenn Beck shared a surprising story: A Republican Senator has continually called on him to run for President.

“A story I’ve never shared before, Mike Lee — and I think it started as a joke,” Beck noted, “Mike Lee used to say to me all the time, ‘You should run for president,’ and I’m like, ‘Are you out of your mind?’

“He called me one day, about a year ago, and we were just chatting, and my wife finally came and she was like, ‘What are you two talking about? Wrap it up,’ and I said, ‘He’s trying to convince me to run for president,’ and I’m like, ‘Mike, that’s the dumbest thing. I have no…’ — this is where it ended — ‘I have no chance of winning,’ and he laughed.

“He said, ‘Of course not. I’m not saying you should run for President because I think you could win. Somebody needs to articulate where we are and what we face and who we have always been and need to remember who we are.’ He said, ‘We need a storyteller,’ and I think we have that now.”

TheBlaze founder went on to specifically mention Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Vivek Ramaswamy as candidates who fit the bill of “storyteller”.

Beck isn’t the first conservative pundit to be pressed to run for the Oval Office. One political action committee called on Tucker Carlson to run for President after his April ouster from Fox News. Additionally, former radio host Larry Elder is currently seeking the 2024 Republican nomination for President, despite being left out of the first debate last week.
