The Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon is a major annual event in Boston. Every year NESN and WEEI work together to tell the stories of patients helped by the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and raise money for the cause.
On Thursday, WEEI released the total for the 2023 event. The radio station, NESN and sponsor Arbella Insurance raised over $4 million this year.
The money benefits cancer patients in the Boston area. This year marked the 21st year of the Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon.
Since its launch in 2002, the event has raised more than $70 million.
WEEI released a list of all of the guests that made time to come on the air and ask listeners to donate. Boston sports legends, current players and manager, and even the governor of Massachusetts joined the fundraising efforts.
