ESPN is getting its money’s worth from Pat McAfee. On the same day that the former NFL punter brought his show to the network, Stephen A. Smith announced that McAfee is going to be pulling double duty with ESPN’s morning lineup on Tuesdays.
McAfee will become part of the rotation of panelists on First Take this season. According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, he will appear on the show every Tuesday with Smith, Molly Qerim and Shannon Sharpe.
First Take announced the deal with Sharpe last month. The ESPN show has maintained its lead over FS1’s Undisputed even after that show was reworked following Sharpe’s exit over the summer.
Smith has not been shy about praising Pat McAfee, even before McAfee signed on with ESPN. Adding him to the First Take rotation makes a lot of sense.
