Jamie Horowitz Out as Layoffs Begin at WWE

Layoffs following the merger with Endeavor have cost WWE one of the biggest names behind the scenes in sports media. Jamie Horowitz has been let go from the company after spending the last two-plus years as its EVP of Development and Digital.

“PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources that Jamie Horowitz, who held the post of Executive Vice President of Development and Digital, WWE, is no longer with World Wrestling Entertainment as a result of the post-Endeavor acquisition layoffs,” writes Mike Johnson.

Catherine Newman, WWE’s EVP and head of marketing, and Amanda Bloom, a director with the company, have also been let go.

Horowitz is one of the most influential producers in sports media, having helped create content for NBC and ESPN and helped launch FS1. He came to WWE from DAZN in 2021.

He is largely credited with the direction of ESPN’s daytime lineup, creating shows like First Take, SportsNation and Numbers Never Lie, which have all been key cogs at one time or another int he “Embrace Debate” machine.

Layoffs are a typical consequence of mergers. Rumors of layoffs at WWE began to circulate almost as soon as Vince McMahon agreed to sell a controlling stake in the company to Endeavor.
