Thursday marked a significant milestone as the Moon Griffon Show hit its 25th anniversary with Townsquare Media Lafayette (Newstalk 96.5 FM KPEL). Over the last nine years, the program has aired from the KPEL studio in Lafayette.
“I am humbled and honored that Lafayette took a chance on me 25 years ago,” Moon Griffon said.
“Then, when we saw the need to move to Lafayette over nine years ago, Mike (Grimsley) and the people in Lafayette were there for me again and welcomed me and my family with open arms. After God, I can’t thank them and all of the listeners enough for allowing me to do this every day.”
The Moon Griffon Show debuted 30 years ago on August 23rd, starting in Monroe and only airing in that local area. The show needed to be syndicated to other markets beyond Monroe to reach a wider audience throughout the state.
Retired Market President Mike Grimsley and KPEL-FM Program Director Ray Sutley saw the potential for Moon’s show in the Lafayette/Acadiana market and took a chance on him.
