The New Jersey 101.5 news team received high honors this week for its breaking news coverage and public service to the state.
As a result, the radio station won three first-place awards for its work in its 2023 Excellence in Journalism Contest, which the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists gave.
“This win is an acknowledgment of the critical role that we have at this radio station, and more importantly, to those who rely on us for that information,” News Director Annette Petriccione said. “What we do matters.”
The honors reflect the work that New Jersey 101.5 did in 2022. Furthermore, the categories in which the radio station received its first place award were Best Public Affairs Show (TV and Radio), Best Breaking News Coverage, and Best Use of Sound for Radio News Story.
New Jersey 101.5 won the Best Public Affairs Show due to their “Class Disrupted – Pandemic Learning Loss,” — which had a panel of educators, behavioral specialists, and policymakers to discuss how best to deal with pandemic learning loss.
Regarding the Best Breaking News Coverage, the radio station won that first-place honor due to its coverage of the mayhem that erupted in Long Branch at the start of the summer season at the Jersey Shore.
