Shan Shariff: We’ve Dropped Regular Guests Due to Name Mispronunciations

Sometimes English is hard even for native English speakers. The subject of pronunciation came up Thursday morning on Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan, and host Shan Shariff was asked what word he has the most difficulty pronouncing.

Shan said “rural” was tough for him.

“Although I don’t know if that’s a simple word, ‘rural’,” he said.

Co-hosts RJ Choppy, Bobby Belt and producer Peyton Russell also pointed out that Shan also struggled somewhat recently with pronouncing Michael Strahan’s name.

“He kept saying, like Stray-hon,” Russell said. “He said it three times.”0

Shan mentioned that mispronouncing Cowboys star Micah Parson’s name was the reason the show ultimately decided not to have Michael Lombardi back to talk Cowboys.

“We had to stop having him on because he kept calling him Mekhi Parsons like for two years,” he said. “Mekhi Parsons. Not Micah Parson’s.”
