Joe DeCamara: Mark Schlereth ‘is a Super Nice Guy, But a Bad NFL Announcer’

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders in a game broadcasted by Chris Myers and Mark Schlereth on FOX Sunday. 94 WIP morning host Joe DeCamara was not impressed by what he saw.

During DeCamara & Ritchie Monday, the Philadelphia morning host shared his extreme displeasure with both the announcers and the broadcast as a whole.

“Fox has to get its act together. That broadcast was a disgrace yesterday. A hand in every shot. It was a disgrace. You got hands in the camera, which might be Daniel Snyder’s fault for building a freaking stadium that way, but Fox after like 20 years, freaking figure it out,” Joe DeCamara said, before turning his attention to Schlereth.

“He stinks, alright? He stinks. He’s a nice guy. I’ve interviewed him a couple times. He’s a super nice guy, but he is a bad NFL announcer,” DeCamara continued. “In a country with over 300 million people, and any number of thousands that played pro football, and any number of hundreds have played it at an extremely high level, which are usually the guys that get the jobs. Not all the time. Sometimes you get your Sean Salisbury’s of the world that actually turned out to be good analysts, even though they were essentially backup-type players. Find someone better.”

Co-host Jon Ritchie disagreed.

“Come on, man. He’s not that bad,” Ritchie said. “He does seem to have a bit of a bias and that did come through at times. That rubbed me the wrong way.”

“He’s horrendous!” shouted DeCamara. “He stinks! He’s boring, he’s not interesting, and he gets too X’s and O’s. He is not fun.”

Joe DeCamara then turned his attention to the directing of the broadcast, arguing that it was negligent for the game to cut away from a brewing fracas between the Eagles and Commanders.

“Get your head out of your ass, FOX,” said DeCamara. “Do a better job, because this is not that hard. It’s not that hard. Just find some better announcers, find some better directors, and a better product out there, because I thought that was a lousy NFL broadcast yesterday.”

  1. Hey Joe,
Who crowned you the King of who FOX should or shouldn’t schedule during their games?
Mark doesn’t need me to defend him, but your comments didn’t sit right with me.

There are so many things to talk about on a Monday, including the upcoming Cowboys game, but you
go after the color analyst of the Eagles game on FOX? I’ve known Mark for a very long time and
even though he did play for the Commanders (Redskins back in the day), there is no bias with Mark.
He’s a pro, a good guy and just giving his take on the game. Btw, he played the bulk of his career
n Denver with the Broncos and won two Super Bowls while in Denver. He certainly is an expert on not
only the game but also how you play the game. If you don’t care for him or his take, then turn the
channel. If you’re looking for something to talk about on a Monday, then maybe focus on this Sunday
when the Cowboys come to town. Be happy the Eagles won the game. The Commanders through the game
    away, literally.

  2. Joe Decamara is know one to critique anyone. He is hands down the worst!!! I listened to wip all the time until they promoted that hammer to the morning show! He talks like he is an expert. But he is an unknowable, condescending blow hard who has know right to criticize anyone especially some one like schlereth who played the game and also been doing this job a long time at a high level!
