Before the NFL Trade Deadline Tuesday, the San Francisco 49ers traded for Washington Commanders defensive lineman Chase Young. 97.1 The Ticket’s Mike Valenti did not respond to the news lightly, with his reaction going viral on social media.
News of the trade came during The Mike Valenti Show with Rico Beard. After being told that a competitor to the Detroit Lions had landed the former number two overall pick, Valenti stood up, and threw his studio chair in disgust.
“What are we doing?!”, Valenti shouted after being told the news. He then turned his attention to Beard — a noted Niners fan — and shouted “Get your privileged ass out of here! Kindly leave! Leave! Out! Get out!”
Beard chuckled throughout the entire situation, asking “What did I do?” repeatedly.
“No one wants to look at you, no one wants to hear you,” Valenti angrily joked. “It’s him or me. Turn his mic off. Turn it off.”
Beard couldn’t contain his laughter, with several moments of dead air from Valenti.
“I just saw red when he said he got traded and it wasn’t to the Lions,” Valenti admitted. “And where did he get traded? Oh wait, your team. And you’re wearing red.”
Video of Valenti’s reaction was captured and posted to social media. The video garnered hundreds of thousands of views.
