The Manningcast has long been lauded as one of the best sports media innovations in recent years. 92.9 The Game’s Steak Shapiro agrees but says Peyton and Eli Manning possess a quality sports radio hosts need, too.
During The Steakhouse, Shapiro said its admirable the pair have the ability to poke fun at themselves, which is a requirement in his eyes for sports radio hosts.
“I really haven’t hired a lot of people in sports radio, sports media and been around a lot of folks like their chemistry, their humor. I can never hang out with a dude or listen to a guy on the radio if they don’t know how to make fun of themselves or aren’t self-deprecating, or have humility,” Shapiro said. “I mean, Peyton Manning is a top-five quarterback in history. Eli Manning has two Super Bowls against Tom Brady. Those two bust each other’s chops!”
Steak Shapiro continued his praise of the Mannings, saying that it’s the optimal way to watch Monday Night Football.
“They’re so freaking funny. I know we go on and on about them, but I just think that it’s just so unique that those guys can be that entertaining that could have what they do, which is a football,” concluded Shapiro.
