Troy Aikman: Every Network Wanted the Same 2 NFL Games, and Monday Night Football Got Both Of Them

The Philadelphia Eagles are slated to face the Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl rematch Monday, and it could be one of the biggest NFL games of the season. ESPN’s Troy Aikman shared that every network that broadcasts the NFL had two particular games they wanted this season, and Monday Night Football was lucky enough to get both of them.

During an appearance with The Musers on The Ticket in Dallas Thursday, Aikman revealed that the Chiefs/Eagles matchup was one of the most coveted broadcasts of the season, along with another game that ended up on the ESPN package.

“When the networks knew the games, there were two games that every network wanted. They wanted Jets/Buffalo — we opened the season with that one — and then they wanted Chiefs and Eagles. And we’ve got that one,” Aikman said. “That’s on Monday night. So a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl. Could be a precursor to what we’re gonna see in this year’s Super Bowl. But I think it’s gonna be fantastic. I think both teams are really talented and really well-coached. It’s gonna be a lot of fun. I’m really excited about it.”

Any Kansas City Chiefs broadcast is now accompanied by the chance that music superstar Taylor Swfit could be in attendance due to her budding romance with tight end Travis Kelce. Swift has been prominently featured in previous broadcasts, and Troy Aikman said he would be open to welcoming her to the ESPN booth.

“I’ve never met her now. I’m on a group thread with my crew. Joe (Buck) was quick to point out yesterday that he’s actually met her in the past,” Aikman said with a chuckle. “I don’t know what it’ll mean to have her. I think it’d be fantastic….I think it’d be fine. I’ve heard everybody has an opinion on the whole thing. I think it’s fantastic, and I think it’s been great for the NFL. And if she’s at the game, and somehow, somebody said ‘Hey, she’d like to come to the broadcast booth’ or ‘We’d love to get her on camera for an interview’, you know what I’d say? ‘Awesome. Let’s go.'”
