Rep. James Comer (R-KY) appeared on The Lead with CNN’s Jake Tapper, claiming that prosecutors indicted Hunter Biden with an additional nine tax counts that could earn him years in prison, all to shield the First Son from a congressional subpoena.
During the interview, Tapper scoffed at Comer’s claim that the Biden administration is engaged in a “coverup.” As a result, Tapper responded by saying, “Ah, yes! Yes! He indicted him to protect him. Yes! The classic rubric. He indicted him to protect him. I got it!”
Tapper mocking Comer’s claim didn’t go unnoticed. The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur applauded this type of behavior from the CNN host, claiming that he’s a fan of this new Tapper.
“I don’t know what happened to old (Jake Tapper), but I like this new one who challenges foreign leaders and sitting Congressmen,” Uygur wrote Friday on X. “Journalism is about holding the powerful accountable. So, this is a solid development. Credit where credit is due.”
