Legendary ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale appears to have cleared another hurdle toward returning to the airwaves.

Vitale, 84, posted on X on Thursday that he remains cancer-free.

“Santa Claus came early for me & my family. Just was on the phone with Dr. Rick Brown (my oncologist, Dr. Ken Meredith (bloodwork). They game me super nets that the Pet Scan was clean (No Cancer) & my bloodwork was all very good,” Vital revealed.

He has been in speech therapy trying to regain strength in his vocal cords so he can return to broadcasting.

Vitale was diagnosed with cancer of the vocal cords this summer and underwent several rounds of radiation treatment. He had to go months without speaking. He originally planned a return to ESPN on November 28th, however, ongoing treatments have kept him off the air.
