John Buccigross Launches Fundraising Campaign in Honor of Barry Melrose

ESPN’s John Buccigross wants to honor his longtime friend and colleague Barry Melrose and raise money for an important cause in the process.

On Tuesday, Buccigross posted to his X account that he’s trying to pay it forward for Melrose, who retired from ESPN in October after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

“Time now to repay his years of hockey service symbolically to him and tangibly to the cause by raising money for Parkinson’s research which is making real strides,” Buccigross wrote.

John launched a website called assistmelrose.com, which leads to a landing page featuring a Barry Melrose t-shirt that fans can buy for $29.99. The shirt is an outline of Barry’s face, with his slick-back hairstyle and beard complete with a cigar in the mouth and a red tie.

“Barry has given his life to hockey. Let’s do something for him, as he battles Parkinson’s,” the website reads.
