95.7 The Game Extends Lead in San Francisco Fall Ratings Book

San Francisco witnessed a tight ratings battle over the summer between its two leading sports radio brands, and the close competition has extended into the fall. Although lineup changes at KNBR are not yet known the station still attained gains or stayed flat across all of its dayparts. 95.7 The Game kept its lineup intact over the quarter and finished with a 4.3 share in weekday prime (M-F, 6a-7p), good for sixth according to Nielsen Audio.

The Game’s morning drive duo of Bonta Hill and Joe Shasky earned a 4.2 share, finishing eighth in the key demo. The Morning Roast jumped seven spots and picked up 1.4-share points from the summer book when the program was 15th with a 2.8 share.

During the midday time slot, Steiny and Guru featuring Matt Steinmetz and Daryle ‘Guru’ Johnson recorded a 5.2 share. That placed the program third for the book, up from ninth and a 3.3. share in the summer.

The Audacy-owned media outlet also saw augmented results in afternoons from Mark Willard and Dan Dibley. Willard & Dibs amassed a 4.1 share for the quarter, representing a seventh-place finish. That figure was up from a 3.6 share, ninth place finish last quarter.

KNBR accumulated a 3.2 share in weekday prime, which ranked the station 11th. The Bay Area brand was down by 1.4 points year-over-year. Nonetheless, the mark was the station’s best figure in the category in the last four ratings books, up six-tenths of a point from the summer.

Beginning in mornings, which changed in late-November because of Paul McCaffrey being laid off, Brian Murphy along with contributions from his former partner and new co-host Markus Boucher registered a 4.0 share. That figure reflected a nine-tenths of a point improvement from the previous quarter. It also placed the show ninth overall in the fall book.

Moving to middays, John Lund and Greg Papa recorded a 3.2 share for the quarter to land in 10th place. Papa and Lund were flat from the summer book but up one position.

In afternoon drive, Tom Tolbert and newly-named KNBR program director Adam Copeland generated a 2.7 share, 13th-place finish. Compared to last quarter, Tolbert and Copes picked up two-tenths of a point and gained four ranking spots.

For the full week (M-SU, 6a-12a), 95.7 The Game finished eighth with a 3.7 share among Men 25-54. KNBR possessed a 3.0 share to finish 13th. Both were down year-over-year. 95.7 The Game enjoyed a 3.8 share, eighth-place in the fall of 2022. KNBR was ahead of The Game at that time in sixth place with a 4.0 share.
