Keith Olbermann Shrinks Podcast Due to Vocal Strain

In the news/talk genre dominated by conservative voices and opinions, longtime cable news host Keith Olbermann has been one of the loudest and most prominent dissenting voices. Now, that voice is undergoing some strain.

During his Thursday episode of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, the host admitted that the length of his podcast was drastically shorter than usual. Most of the podcast episodes range between 40-60 minutes, with Thursday’s edition only covering 25 minutes.

At the end of the podcast, Olbermann revealed doctors had only given him permission to continue hosting the program if he limited the lengths of the episodes temporarily.

“I’ve done all the damage I can do here on Countdown. Thank you for listening. This time it’s literally damage to myself. My ENT agreed to let me keep talking, provided I cut back today. So you’ve just heard the streamlined version. I’m not Lloyd Austin, you hear. I’m not sick,” Olbermann said, referencing Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who transferred power to a subordinate after failing to disclose he had undergone surgery to address a prostate cancer diagnosis.

“There’s nothing seriously wrong structurally,” continued Olbermann. “They’re not worried about my throat. It’s just everything is strained from projecting while sick. Will get better. Thanks for your indulgence.”
