After refusing to participate in a debate unless former President Donald Trump joined, Nikki Haley will now appear in a standalone town hall event with CNN.
Both CNN and ABC News had debates scheduled before the New Hampshire primary. However, after Haley’s refusal to debate unless Trump — who hasn’t participated in any debate event in the leadup to the primaries — and Vivek Ramaswamy suspended his campaign, Gov. Ron DeSantis (FL) was the only willing participant for a debate.
Haley will appear at the town hall from New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire on Thursday at 9 PM ET. Jake Tapper will host the event.
In a statement, CNN made it clear it would continue to attempt to schedule other events with candidates remaining in the race.
“We will continue to pursue other opportunities as the campaign season progresses through 2024, including candidate Town Halls,” a network spokesperson commented.
