If Greg Olsen is out as FOX’s leading NFL analyst, he’s going out with a bang. Sports media praised the former NFL tight end for his call of the NFC Championship Game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers. In particular, Olsen’s succinct yet thorough analysis was the source of much approval.
Olsen is expected to be replaced by Tom Brady, FOX’s $375 million acquisition. However, whether or not Brady will actually begin his role as a color commentator has been widely speculated by other sports media pundits for months. From Phil Simms to Albert Breer, there’s been plenty of speculation as to whether Brady would go into the booth. However, Troy Aikman, another former QB-turned-analyst, thinks Brady won’t just join FOX Sports, he’ll thrive in the role of lead analyst.
If this is goodbye, though, he’s going out with a bang.
