Jim Nantz and Tony Romo at CBS will be on the call for the Super Bowl next Sunday, but Barstool’s PFT Commenter wouldn’t have that exact combination working the broadcast if he had his way.
On Monday’s edition of Pardon My Take, PFT told co-host Dan “Big Cat” Katz that his idea is a hot take but it would shake things up in the broadcast booth for the biggest game of the year.
“I think that the Super Bowl should be announced by the best announcers that year,” PFT said. “Just like the game is played by the best teams that year. We’re gonna get Tony Romo, and we’re gonna get Jim Nantz, and Tony Romo’s gonna annoy the (expletive) out of America. It should be Greg Olsen and Jim Nantz.”
Big Cat and PFT Commenter were both so impressed by Olsen’s performance calling the Super Bowl last year that he should get another chance to work the broadcast.
Big Cat floated a theory that Super Bowl LVIII might be the final time America hears Jim Nantz call an NFL game, along with the idea that if Nantz does stop calling NFL games after the Super Bowl, CBS should trade for Olsen.
“He did retire from March Madness this past year,” Big Cat said of Nantz. “He’s gonna do golf, but I started thinking about it. We’ve had potential trades in broadcasters before.”
“Why doesn’t CBS trade for Greg Olsen?” he asked. “Greg Olsen is so good, and I know he’s a friend of ours. But he’s so good. Just trade for Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen. Have Tom Brady do it with Jim Gray. Tony Romo just go play golf.”
