The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show is one of the largest radio programs in the world. That doesn’t mean it can traction everywhere, as has been evidenced by the removal of their content from TikTok.
During the duo’s afternoon program Monday, Clay Travis mentioned that each video the show attempts to upload to the social media platform gets rejected. He then said he would illuminate the issue later in the week for listeners so they can hear what is being denied.
“We’re gonna put together audio clips of what TikTok has found to be objectionable that we say on this radio show, and that they will not allow us to share on TikTok,” said Travis. “I think that would be illuminating to a lot of our audience out there because TikTok has certainly shown itself — in terms of Israel and in Palestine — to not exactly be fair purveyors.”
Clay Travis continued by noting that the development is a concerning one because of the number of young people on the platform who don’t have access to other information.
“I don’t know how all kids get information these days. So I can only speak to what I see in my own in the Travis household,” Travis said before listing the ages of his three sons. “Every single bit of media that they consume — other than sitting beside me and watching sporting events — is either YouTube or it’s TikTok. I bet if you have a teenager or you have a teenage grandson or granddaughter, I would bet very strongly that they are getting most of what they see from YouTube and TikTok. If those algorithms are not feeding them fair headlines, then they’re getting a distorted sense of reality.
“In addition to the fact that I think it’s unfortunately not great for mental health of teenagers to be super active on social media, to me, the big issue out there as all of this continues to play itself out is these kids are getting fed information that is not algorithmically what they may have looked up before but they’re not getting accurate information on many different issues,” continued Travis.
“And they’re getting spoon-fed propaganda. That’s why I’m kind of curious what has been banned from us being able to share, not that we have a monstrous audience on TikTok, but the fact that we can say things on the biggest radio show in the country that TikTok won’t allow to be distributed on their platform is a pretty big red flag.”
Buck Sexton agreed with Travis, adding that the social media platform would never share why they denied the videos. He claimed the company would “hide behind the terms and services bureaucracy crap.”
