Dan Orlovsky Calls Mad Dog Russo Comments “Classless”

Dan Orlovsky isn’t responding to the latest case of ESPN-on-ESPN crime very favorably. During the Monday, Feb. 5 edition of First Take, Orlovsky’s performance during the Pro Bowl Skills Competition was shown to hosts Stephen A. Smith and Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo. While Stephen A. took the opportunity to praise Orlovsky, Russo wasn’t so kind.

“Who cares? For crying out loud,” Russo said. “He was a scrub in the NFL! This does not make up for that!” The latter remark got an eyebrow raise from Smith. Orlovsky found the video and responded in kind.

Their fellow colleagues on The Pat McAfee Show, meanwhile, responded much more positively to Orlovsky’s video, praising him for his performance and doing it in dress clothes. “He’s so happy this was released,” McAfee said, “and he’s so happy that it happened — as he should be. He was throwing dimes.”

This isn’t the first time Mad Dog has committed the deadly sin of ESPN-on-ESPN crime, either. During a guest appearance on the Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast, he called McAfee “too sensitive” for lashing out at ESPN executive Norby Williamson for perceived leaks that sought to damage McAfee’s show’s viewership numbers. In January, McAfee accused Williamson of providing the media false viewership numbers to “sabotage” his show.

For what it’s worth, Orlovsky’s 27 points would have made him the winner of the Precision Passing event. His total surpassed CJ Stroud’s 26, which won the event.
