The proposed AM For Every Vehicle Act continues to garner support in both houses of Congress but has yet to be put to a vote. NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt believes the future is bright for the bill.
The fight to keep the AM band in car dashboards, especially electric vehicles, has been a long one. However, the proposed bill has seen a coalition from both sides of the political aisle come to its support, which LeGeyt believes puts the bill in a strong spot to be passed.
“We are laser-focused on continuing to increase the momentum around this bill, in the remaining months left of this Congress. In a very short time period, we have been able to attract 202 cosponsors in the House and 46 cosponsors in the Senate,” LeGeyt told Inside Radio.
“We have a bipartisan coalition of Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren on one side, and Ted Cruz at the other, and policymakers everywhere in between on the political spectrum. It is an absolute rarity in Washington, and I think it positions us very well to get these bills over the finish line this Congress – no doubt about that.”
