Candace Owens: Why is There Outrage Over Tucker Carlson Interview With Putin?

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has announced he is in Moscow to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin. The announcement was met with significant backlash, and The Daily Wire’s Candace Owens is asking why.

During her podcast, Owens questioned why there is outrage for Carlson’s interview. She noted that other American news outlets had featured interviews with members of ISIS and Al-Qaeda, and other controversial figures like Sadaam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, and El Chapo, and there was hardly any backlash.

Candace Owens argued that there is a cover-up from mainstream media outlets being led by the Department of Justice to use propaganda as a way to continue support for the American backing of Ukraine in the war against Russia. She argued that commentary from Carlson led to his exit from Fox News, which the network has continually denied.

“From what I heard privately, the reason that Fox News eventually got rid of Tucker — who was their top performing program, Tucker Carlson Tonight — was because of his commentary regarding Ukraine,” said Owens. “Because he was asking specific questions. That is how hard they are trying to protect this narrative regarding what is happening in Ukraine and in Russia, despite all of these lies suddenly being unveiled. So you can imagine the absolute meltdown that ensued over the weekend when people realized that Tucker touched down in Moscow. They are already full force.”

She then noted criticism from some conservative media members who had labeled Carlson a “traitor” for his proposed interview with Putin.

Carlson confirmed his interview with Putin on Tuesday, arguing that it’s his job to interview the Russian President. He called it his “duty” to secure the interview.

He also argued that no Western journalists had interviewed Vladimir Putin about the war in Ukraine. A spokesperson for the Kremlin claimed it had received numerous requests for interviews with the leader. A Community Note on X labeling Carlson’s statement as a falsehood was later removed.
