710 KNUS morning host George Brauchler is taking a leave of absence from the Salem Media Group station in an effort to run for District Attorney of a newly created district in Colorado.
Brauchler has experience in the legal space. He is the former district attorney for Colorado’s 18th Judicial District, but had to step away due to term limits. However, for the first time in over 60 years, Colorado is creating a new district, the 23rd district, which Brauchler is hoping to secure the DA title for.
He also previously ran for Governor of the Centennial State in 2018.
“I take seriously my charge and my duty as a prosecutor to protect our residents and businesses,” Brauchler said in a statement. “Our residents deserve an experienced district attorney and proven leader who will keep criminals off the street and serve as a champion for victim-focused policies and laws that promote public safety, not the current offender-friendly laws coming from our Capitol.”
George Brauchler joined the Denver news/talk station in August of 2022 after the retirement of Peter Boyles. In his absence, 710 KNUS has paired Jeff Hunt and Bill Thorpe together for The Jeff and Bill Show.
