As Tucker Carlson prepares to release a sit-down interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin Thursday, many have been critical of the decision to even host the interview. 105.9 WMAL host Vince Coglianese questions why the backlash has been so swift.
While discussing the upcoming video during The Vince Coglianese Show Wednesday, the Washington D.C. based host argued critics should wait until the content of the conversation is released before being judgmental.
“Have you ever seen the amount of publicity for an interview that hasn’t been released yet, as we’ve seen for Tucker Carlson’s interview with Vladimir Putin? Every network is going apoplectic right now,” Coglianese said. “All these insane people are screaming. There’s like blood coming out of their eyes, spittle hitting the camera. It’s nuts what’s happening right now.”
Vince Coglianese then turned his attention to one specific Tucker Carlson critic.
“CNN’s Abby Phillip was going crazy yesterday. So crazy. I think she was screaming before the segment ended because her voice was shot. It was completely gone…She was really, really grumpy about this. She’s like, ‘Tucker Carlson is not a journalist.’ She was screeching. Now, the funny thing about this is Abby Phillip is a newsreader who reads scripts that other people write for her on television,” he said. “So, what is she even talking about? Tucker Carlson goes to Russia to interview the leader of that country in person, and she’s lecturing him about who the journalist is? Isn’t that the weirdest thing? She’s a newsreader lady. It’s amazing.”
