WWE and the X platform have signed a two-year deal for a new exclusive video series, WWE Speed. The concept will feature timed matches which are meant to be completed in five minutes or less. The announcement was made during the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference in Las Vegas.
According to Fightful.com, Speed matches began filming last year during the December 15 SmackDown taping. The series will be filmed live to tape and is set to debut this spring. Fightful says the new show will feature WWE superstars from across its roster and that the content will not be repurposed from other programming. The series is set to air 52 weeks per year.
This is the second big announcement involving sports and entertainment this week for X. Earlier in the week, Jim Rome announced he was ending his simulcast with CBS Sports Network and the show will re-emerge on X in the coming months.
