Verne Lundquist Says His 40th Masters on CBS Will Be His Last

Verne Lundquist of CBS has announced his 40th Masters this April, will be his final one working for CBS. The 83-year-old Lundquist stopped calling SEC games afer 2016 and had mentioned in recent years his 40th Masters might be his last.

At Augusta, Lundquist is known for his time in the 16th hole tower each April. He also has two of his most famous calls, his “Yes, sir!” for Jack Nicklaus in 1986 and his “In your life have you seen anything like that?” for Tiger Woods in 2005.

Lundquist worked for ABC Sports from 1974 to 1981, CBS Sports from 1982-1995 and TNT from 1995-1997 before returning to CBS in 1998. From 2000-2016 he was the voice of the SEC on CBS. His final football game was the Army-Navy game on December 10, 2016.

This year’s Masters will take place April 11-14.
