Brendan Tobin and Leroy Hoard of WQAM Miami’s midday show Tobin & Leroy, responded to recent comments made by Bill Simmons from The Ringer. Talking to Ryen Russillo on his podcast, Simmons went off on a rant about the Miami Heat.
“Are you guys familiar with Bill Simmons?,” Tobin asked. “His podcast with Ryen Russillo, which is just awful listening, but if you guys like to be angry you can check that out.
“Bill Simmons was beside himself this week because he’s afraid, he’s a fearful man and he knows what’s coming. The Miami Heat are rounding in to form – they could bounce the Celtics in the second round at this pace. It may not even get to the Eastern Conference Finals for the Celtics this year, which is what has him nervous.”
The hosts played a clip of what Simmons had to say, which boiled down to Simmons believing everything the Heat have accomplished in this current era has been from luck. Simmons is a Celtics fan and for those unaware, the Heat have beaten the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals three times since 2012, twice winning in the seventh game of the series.
Tobin continued, “I love the fact that this loser sits there in his little NBA dungeon and copes and tries to figure out how the Heat keep doing it and how they keep finding themselves in this position. Don’t worry about it Bill, call it luck, call it chance, call it fate, call it whatever you want, it’s still ‘Heat in 5’ you bumb.”
In summing up his feelings towards Simmons, Tobin said, “He’s an A-1 hater but… he’s more of an A-1 coward, that’s what he is.”
